Guthrie Station at Big Elk Meadows
Memorial Day weekend 2011 the fire station at Big Elk Meadows was dedicated and named Guthrie Station at Big Elk Meadows. It was a very special tribute to two very special people -- whom I am proud to call parents.
Jerry and Gerri Guthrie have served for nearly 20 years and have overseen changes with the Big Elk Meadows Fire Department that spanned from a shed with gravel floors to a firehouse/community center with 5 large bays stuffed with equipment, a heli-pad, many members trained in areas such as cold water rescue to wildland fires to structure to emergency medical and much more.
Directly below is a video of Chief Guthrie and Chief-ette Gerri Mae's arrival at the celebration...what a HEARTWARMING experience that was.
Beneath the video is a photo gallery, which you can scroll through.
To the community of Big Elk Meadows, thank you for dedicating the station in the name of my parents and your participation in this event.
Sincerely, Mark Guthrie (mguthrie@biz360.biz)
